That was going to be my suggestion too. Looks like there's going to 
have to be an option to not require shared libraries.

I do intend to eventually go to an autoconf setup (which is quite a bit 
of work) to make supporting all these platforms a bit easier. 
Originally I just targeted i386 OpenBSD and Darwin, and then when I 
decided to open source it, obviously a few more platforms were 
required.
