Are /usr/local/bin and /usr/local/sbin in your PATH?

Yes

So as above, what happens when you run /usr/local/sbin/bbstored? Please try passing the -D and -V flags to it to prevent forking and to give more output and show us the output, as well as anything new being sent to syslog.

Here is what I get: /usr/local/sbin/bbstored: No such file or directory

Syslog shows:

Are /usr/local/bin and /usr/local/sbin in your PATH?

Your quoting style is quite confusing. I'm not sure if I received an answer to this.

So as above, what happens when you run /usr/local/sbin/bbstored? Please try passing the -D and -V flags to it to prevent forking and to give more output and show us the output, as well as anything new being sent to syslog.
